Katie was wonderful to work with. I came to see her having already a healthy lifestyle, and on whole-food-plant-based nutrition. Katie worked with my diet but tweaked it to better suit my energy and metabolic needs. We also did the hormonal panel to better understand and cater for my hormonal changes during menopause. Katie was great at educating me on the latest in nutritional research; that was important for me coming from the medical and wellness fields. All in all, my nutrition now helps support my active, wellness-focused lifestyle, I eat really yummy food and feel great with how my body looks and feels. Katie was amazing to work with! I am a college athlete competing on the track & field team at the University of Rochester and over the years I have been struggling with recurring bone stress injuries. On top of this, I have several food intolerances. Katie worked with me to find nutritional deficiencies and hormonal imbalances that were contributing to my injuries and gave me very specific meal plans/recipes/supplements to optimize my energy and performance beyond just preventing injury. Katie also takes into account the differences in nutritional needs of female athletes and educated me on how to incorporate these into my diet. As our sessions went on we were also able to tweak the timing and composition of my pre and post-workout fuel for best performance and recovery (which was a challenge with my busy class schedule). I have learned so much about my own body’s needs and how to optimize my food and training routine for my best performances on the track. After being injured for almost the whole indoor season I was able to come back to outdoor track for my most successful season yet. What I loved most about Katie was her kindness and dedication to her clients’ success, as well as her wholistic approach to wellness. She cared about my success as a student-athlete and my wellbeing as a person and frequently checked in on me throughout the process.

I contacted Katie on the advice of someone I train with, to help dial in my food intake for running. I worked with her for three months and she was able to help change my eating habits and how I thought about food so that this would be a more permanent lifestyle change, instead of a temporary diet that when stopped, all the progress reverses itself.
She is very accommodating, and accessible for questions, and has weekly check ins to look over your progress and keep you accountable. I trained for Ironman Austria 2020 since summer 2019. It was my first 140.6 full distance Ironman after completing the 70.3 distant several times and winning a few shorter local triathlons. Due to the pandemic, I ended up doing the race in July 2022.
Even though my training was going well, I was terrified of managing my nutrition before and during the race. I eat a plant-based whole food diet for many years, but I was not sure how to balance it all to support my body through such a long endurance race. I needed professional help. During one of my 3000 yards swim in the pool, a fellow swimmer recommended Katie for her nutritional expertise and working with Ironman athletes. I met with Katie for the first time 2 months before the race, so we were on a tight timeline. She helped me convert my metabolism from carbohydrates to proteins and fat which is not easy to do on a plant-based diet. She planned and tested my race-day nutrition and water intake. During the 2 months of intensive training prior to the race, Katie was very involved, checking in and making sure all is going well. On the last week prior to the race, her instructions were very strict, not to mention the 48h pre-race and the morning of the race.
Race-day conditions were challenging: sunny, 93 degrees heat, running the marathon part during mid-day. But one thing I can say, I was NOT dehydrated or undernourished. Katie’s nutrition plan sustained me well.
During the race, Katie was on the phone from Rochester with my wife in Austria to check on my progress and how I was feeling.
